Baku State University
Baku State University (BSU) is located in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku, which is the largest city and port of the country. Established in 1919, BSU is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Azerbaijan. Initially, the university started with two faculties—Philosophy and Medicine—and only 1,094 students.
Today, Baku State University offers a wide range of programs across 17 faculties at all levels of education, from undergraduate to doctoral studies. BSU provides 16 programs in 55 undergraduate degrees and 153 postgraduate degrees. It accepts international applicants for all three academic levels, including undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs.

Admission to Baku State University
For admission to Baku State University at the master’s level, students with an 11-year secondary school diploma who have not completed the pre-university program in their home country (e.g., Iran) are required to complete a one-year preparatory course at the university. This preparatory year includes basic courses and language instruction in Azerbaijani. After completing the course and achieving satisfactory grades, students can enroll in their chosen field of study. All documents submitted for admission must be translated into Azerbaijani and notarized. Language of Instruction
At Baku State University, courses are available in three languages: Azerbaijani, Russian, and English.
